I thought some of you book lovers might find this interesting. I got it from the UPI news.

U.S. crime novelist James Patterson is the top-earning author in 2011-12, earning $94 million thanks to the 14 new titles he published, Forbes reported. Coming in at No. 2 is Stephen King with $39 million, followed by Janet Evanovich at No. 3 with $33 million, John Grisham at No. 4 with $26 million and Jeff Kinney at No. 5 with $25 million. Rounding out the top tier are Bill O'Reilly at No. 6 with $24 million, Nora Roberts at No. 7 with $23 million, Danielle Steel at No. 8 with $23 million, Suzanne Collins at No. 9 with $20 million and Dean Koontz at No. 10 with $19 million. .

Cool! James Patterson, Stephen King, and Nora Roberts are some of my favorite authors, so it's good to see them in the top tier. I couldn't really get into The Hunger Games, but I'm not surprised that Suzanne Collins is up there, since that series was so popular.

i'm surprise the so call popular best seller author EL James isn't up there. However it is not surprising with the top 10 list i guess.

I actually don't think I've ever heard of Jeff Kinney.

Joanna, I think this is a list of just American authors. I'm sure the woman who wrote the Shades of Gray trilogy and J.K. Rolling would be in their if this had been an international list.

but i thought Danielle Steel from the UK? but you right though, J.K. Rolling should be up there, if its an international list.

No, Danielle Steel is American.

I think james paterson should be knocked off the top of the list since he only half writes his books. He more or less rents out his series to anyone who wants to write one of the books. Then he puts his name on the title page beside the one who actually wrote it. That's how he can write fourteen books in one year.

Well, whether he writes the books himself or not, he still earned that much money. But it would be interesting to know how much his various co-authors earn.

Very true, LibraLady; his co-authors probably earn less than they should.

I don't know anyone up there, heard of a few of them, but.... heard o'riley is good. I still need to watch him or something.
